Welcome to our family website!

Our New Yard

Our front yard was in need of some improvements. Our grass was struggling due to insufficient soil and we had way too many large plants in our flowerbed in front of our house. We had Lakeridge Landscaping install new grass for us (and a sprinkler system). They did a wonderful job! We removed a few plants and will be transplanting a few more this fall.

This is what the front of our house looked like before we did any work.
In May we removed the huge bush under our front window and a smaller bush on the corner of our house.

Matt removed a flowering tree that did not survive our crazy winter.

Our New Yard
In June we had the grass in our front yard replaced. This is what the front yard looked like before they started. You can also see the differences in the flower beds since the bushes were removed.

Day 1
The landscapers working in our yard to remove the grass.

They used a machine to cut out the old grass.

Strips of old grass all piled up.

Bye-bye grass

They also dug the ditches for the sprinkler system on the first day. The dirt was really hard and there were lots of big rocks.

Day 2
Sprinklers are in and most of the new topsoil is spread. Now we're just waiting for grass.
Day 3 ~ The finished product

Two weeks later - after the first mowing

Now that the grass is looking beautiful we need to finish working on the flowerbeds. We will be transplanting the redwood tree on the corner of our house to my parents yard this fall. It's a pretty tree, but it is too close to our house and will grow too tall for our neighborhood. We also need to move a couple of other plants and plant some new flower. Hopefully by next spring our flowerbeds will be looking at pretty as our new grass!
