The Swensruds

Welcome to our family website!

Ocean Shores

On Saturday we great day with Grandma and Auntie Carmen. We all loaded up in our new (well it's a '06, but it's new to us) Honda Pilot and headed to the ocean. We started off with a stop at Starbucks and then had breakfast at IHOP in Tacoma. With our bellies full, we were ready for the road trip. It was a beautiful day to be at the ocean! Our first stop once we got there was to get some ice cream. Emma got a cup of milk, but it looked like she was drinking coffee. :)

Emma enjoyed having Grandma and Auntie Carmen on our mini vacation with us!

Gotta love that smile!

Emma got to pet the horses with Auntie Carmen.

After our ice cream treat, we all ventured out to the water. I had Caleb in the Baby Bjorn all day (my shoulders were a little sore afterwards), but I was able to keep him protected from the sun. This was the first trip to the ocean for both kids. Emma thought the water was pretty cool at first.

But then once it started to come up higher on her legs and the sand started moving under her feet, she wasn't so sure she liked it anymore. When the water started coming at her again, she decided that we were getting out of there. She, which meant all of us, started walking backward quickly until we were out of the water. Then everything was ok again.

Here are a couple of family pictures of us at the beach. You can only see the top of Caleb's head in the first picture, so I folded down the Baby Bjorn so that you could see his cute face.

Emma loved playing in the sand. We started out in the wet sand which was fun until the water came up under her. Then it was time to move to dry sand. :)

I love this picture of her. It looks like she is just waiting for someone to dare her to throw the sand. It shows her mischievous side. :)

Here we are in the dry sand...no fear of the water getting us now. Emma had fun letting Daddy bury her feet. Later we buried Auntie Carmen's feet and Daddy's arms and legs.

Emma explaining something to Grandma. Like I said, she had a blast spending the day with Grandma and Auntie Carmen!

After leaving the beach, we had dinner at a restaurant in Ocean Shores. Then we all piled back into the Pilot for our trip back home. Emma took a short nap on the way home and Caleb slept most of the day. Once we got back to Bonney Lake, we went to the Old School Frozen Custard shop for another ice cream treat. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful day!

You can never have too much ice cream, huh! Love the family pictures! You look great, and Caleb is getting so big. Welcome to the Honda Club, by the way... now you're ready to be an official soccer mom!
